AI Use Disclosure

Last Updated: February 17, 2025

Curio Connection uses artificial intelligence (AI) to generate personality readings, compatibility analyses, and imagination game interpretations. This document explains how AI is used in the App, in compliance with Apple App Store Guidelines (including Guideline 5.1.2(i) regarding third-party AI and personal data).

1. What Data Is Sent to the AI

The App sends only user input data to generate readings. No device identifiers, advertising IDs, or tracking data are collected or transmitted.

When you use a reading feature, the following may be sent to our AI provider:

Photos: When you submit a face, eye, palm, or handwriting image — AI analyzes the image to produce a personality reading (self-reflection and entertainment).

Text responses: In Imagination Games, when you describe visualized scenes — AI interprets your descriptions symbolically and generates personality insights.

Name: If you optionally add it to a profile — used to personalize the reading text.

Birth month and day: If you optionally provide it — used to determine your astrological (zodiac) sign for entertainment interpretation about potential personality traits or compatibility.

Gender: If you optionally provide it — used for personalization.

Prior reading results: When comparing compatibility between two people — AI uses traits, mood, and attribute scores from each reading to generate compatibility analysis.

What we do not send: We do not intentionally send device IDs, advertising identifiers, or any other tracking data. The app sends only user input data together with an engineered system prompt. We do not log or retain your images or Imagination Game text on our servers after the reading is returned.

2. Where Data Is Sent (Data Flow)

Your data follows this path when you request a reading:

Your device → Curio Connection app → Cloudflare Worker (to protect our API key) → GROQ AI servers → Response back to you

Cloudflare Worker: The app sends requests to our Cloudflare Worker, which adds the API key and forwards the request to Groq. This keeps the API key server-side and protects it from exposure.

GROQ AI: Groq, Inc. operates the cloud-based AI models that process your data and generate readings.

Transmission: All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

3. Why We Use the AI

We use AI solely for:

Personality trait discovery: To generate entertaining interpretations about potential personality traits based on your photos or imagination game responses.

Compatibility analysis: To compare two people's readings and provide entertaining insights about potential connection and chemistry.

Important: All readings are for self-reflection and entertainment only. They are not medical, psychological, legal, or professional advice. The App does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical or health condition.

4. Third-Party AI Provider

We use Groq, Inc. ("Groq") as our AI provider. Groq operates cloud-based AI infrastructure and hosts models such as Meta Llama (image analysis) and Moonshot Kimi (text interpretation). Groq is a separate company with its own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We do not control Groq's data practices, retention, or security measures.

5. Where AI Is Used in the App

First Impressions, Eye Cues, Hand Stories, Writing Style: Analyze photos to produce personality readings.

Imagination Games (The Cube, The Forest): Interpret your text descriptions of visualized scenes to generate personality archetype and insights.

Compatibility: Compare two readings to produce compatibility score and relationship insights.

6. Explicit Consent to Third-Party AI Processing

Per Apple App Review Guideline 5.1.2(i): Apps that share personal data with third-party AI systems must clearly disclose this and obtain explicit permission.

We disclose that:

1. Your images, optional profile information, and text responses are sent via our Cloudflare Worker to Groq (a third-party AI provider) for processing. 2. Groq processes this data solely to generate readings and does not use it for our advertising or marketing. 3. We do not control how Groq retains, secures, or uses data on their systems.

By using the App and submitting content for a reading, you explicitly consent to this sharing with third-party AI. If you do not consent, please do not use the AI-based reading features.

We obtain your consent at the point of use: when you capture/upload an image or submit text, you are affirmatively choosing to send that data for AI processing.

7. Nature of AI Outputs

AI outputs are algorithmic, not human-authored. They are generated by machine learning models based on patterns in training data and your input.

Readings are for self-reflection and entertainment. They often resonate with users and encourage mindfulness—but they are not psychological, medical, legal, or professional advice.

No medical or health diagnosis. Analysis of faces, eyes, palms, or handwriting is used solely for self-reflection and entertainment. The App does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical or health condition.

AI may produce inaccurate or inappropriate content. We do not guarantee correctness, suitability, or safety of any output. Use your judgment.

8. Your Choices

Opt out of AI processing: Do not submit images or text for analysis. Some app features (e.g., browsing, history review) may still work without AI.

Minimize data shared: Omit optional profile fields (name, birth date, gender) when possible.

Delete local data: Use the History screen to clear your reading history from your device.

9. Updates

We may update our AI providers, models, or practices over time. Significant changes will be reflected in this document and our Privacy Policy. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance.
