Curio Connection ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the Curio Connection mobile application ("App") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our services. This policy is designed to meet the requirements of the Apple App Store, the App Review Guidelines, and applicable privacy laws.
To use the App, you must create an account. When you sign up, we collect:
• Email address and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication)
• Display name (chosen by you)
• Birth month and day (used to derive your zodiac sign for personalization)
• IP address (collected once at signup for security purposes, via a third-party service)
When you use reading features, you may provide:
• Photos or Images: You may capture or upload photos of faces, eyes, palms, or handwriting for personality and compatibility readings. These images are processed solely to generate self-reflection and entertainment-style insights. We do not use them for medical, health, or diagnostic purposes. Photos are not stored on our servers.
• Profile Information (Optional): When you choose to personalize a reading, you may provide name, date of birth, zodiac sign, and/or gender.
• Text Responses: In Imagination Games, you provide written descriptions of visualized scenarios. These responses are used to generate symbolic personality insights.
When you create a "Curio Pack" to share with others, you choose what to include. Pack data is stored in the cloud and is publicly accessible to anyone with the link. A pack may include: a display name, reading summary (standout, interpretation, traits, mood, attribute scores), and optionally zodiac sign and gender. No photos or images are included in packs.
• Local Storage: Reading results and history entries are stored locally on your device. We do not upload your full reading history to our servers.
• Device Data: Standard device information may be used for app functionality (e.g., camera access, storage).
We use the information you provide to:
• Account Management: Create and maintain your account, authenticate you, and provide account-related features.
• Deliver App Features: Process images and text through AI to generate personality readings, compatibility analyses, and imagination game interpretations.
• Personalization: Use profile details (name, zodiac, etc.) to tailor readings when you choose to provide them.
• Curio Packs: Store pack data in the cloud when you create a shareable link, and display it to anyone who opens the link.
• App Functionality: Store your reading history locally; store usage counts (e.g., scans, packs created) in your account for functionality.
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, analytics beyond basic app functionality, or tracking. We do not sell your personal information.
Your images, profile information, and text responses are sent to and processed by a third-party AI service. This is required for the App to function.
We use Groq, Inc. ("Groq") to power our AI features. Groq provides cloud-based AI models (including models such as Meta Llama and Moonshot Kimi) that analyze your submissions and generate readings.
When you request a reading, the following may be transmitted (via our Cloudflare Worker to protect our API key) to Groq's servers:
• Photos: Base64-encoded images (face, eyes, palm, or handwriting) that you capture or select.
• Profile Information: If you provide it: name, birth month and day (used to determine astrological sign for entertainment interpretation), zodiac sign, gender.
• Text Responses: Your written answers from Imagination Games (e.g., descriptions of visualized scenes).
• Prior reading results: When using Compatibility features, traits and attribute data from prior readings.
We do not intentionally send device IDs, advertising identifiers, or any other tracking data. The app sends only user input data with an engineered prompt. We do not retain copies of your images or Imagination Game text on our servers after a reading is generated.
Your data flows: Your device → Curio Connection app → Cloudflare Worker (API key protection) → Groq AI → Response back to you. All transmission is over HTTPS.
• Data is sent to Groq solely to process your request and return a reading.
• Groq's processing is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
• We do not control how Groq retains or processes data on their systems. Please review Groq's policies for details.
By using the App and submitting images or text for analysis, you consent to this data being shared with Groq and other third-party AI infrastructure for processing. If you do not agree, please do not use the AI-based reading features.
We obtain your consent at the point of use: when you capture/upload an image or submit text, you are affirmatively choosing to send that data for AI processing.
We use Google Firebase (Authentication and Realtime Database) to:
• Authenticate you: Email and password are handled by Firebase Authentication. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Store account data: Your profile (email, display name, birth date, zodiac, usage stats) is stored in Firebase Realtime Database.
• Store Curio Packs: When you create a pack, the pack data is stored in Firebase and is publicly readable by anyone with the link.
We do not control Google's data practices. Please review Google's policies for details.
• On Your Device: Reading history is stored locally. You can delete it at any time from the History screen.
• In the Cloud: Account data and Curio Packs are stored in Firebase. You may delete your account (and associated data) through the App.
• With Groq: Data transmitted to Groq for AI processing is subject to their retention practices. We do not retain copies of your images or text on our servers after a reading is generated.
We implement appropriate measures to protect your information, including:
• Use of secure connections (HTTPS) when transmitting data to AI services.
• Local-only storage of reading history; no upload of history to our servers.
• No collection of payment or financial information (the App is free to use).
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
The App is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
You may:
• Delete your reading history: Clear it from the History screen at any time.
• Delete your account: Use the account deletion option in the App to remove your account and associated data. Note: Curio Packs you created may remain accessible via their links until we implement pack deletion (contact us to request removal).
• Control pack content: When creating a pack, you choose what to include (display name, zodiac, gender). Do not create packs if you do not want that information shared publicly.
• Stop using the App: Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data. Account data in Firebase remains until you delete your account.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights (e.g., access, correction, deletion, portability) under laws such as GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Data may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers (including Groq and Google Firebase) operate. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
